Costs of Housing, Energy & Groceries

Families don't feel inflation in theory. They feel it in rent, utility bills, and grocery prices that keep climbing while paychecks struggle to keep up. When the cost of basic necessities rises faster than what people can earn, it becomes harder to build a stable life, no matter how hard you work.

Transparency

People should be able to see why their bills are going up. Whether it's utilities, housing, or groceries, the cost of necessities should never increase without a clear explanation.

Efficiency

We don't build enough housing, and we haven't built a diverse, resilient energy system. We should be making it faster and cheaper to build both.

Affordability

Costs should make sense relative to what people can earn. When working full time still doesn't cover housing, utilities, and groceries, the path to the American Dream is broken.

My Plan

  • Require clear explanations when costs rise, including utility rate increases, housing delays, and grocery price hikes driven by policy choices like tariffs.
  • Make it faster and cheaper to build housing, using federal incentives to reward communities that increase supply and bring prices down.
  • Speed up clean energy and grid upgrades, so we diversify energy sources, lower utility bills over time, and reduce storm-related costs.
  • Roll back policies that act like a tax on families, including tariffs that raise grocery prices without making supply chains more resilient.
